2010-2012 Strategic Plan
In 2009, the Foundation’s Board of Directors worked with the University of Washington and City of Seattle to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the three Arboretum partners. It also focused on clarifying the roles our Board, volunteers, and staff. Following this, a strategic planning committee worked with our Board, partners, and stakeholders to craft a new strategic plan for the Foundation. The Board held a retreat in November 2009 to discuss the draft three-year plan, and then adopted the goals and strategies at its meeting later that month.
The detailed plan can be downloaded below. The mission, vision, and main goals of the plan are:
Our Mission:
The Arboretum Foundation promotes, protects and enhances the Washington Park Arboretum for current and future generations by strengthening and building a diverse and engaged community of donors, volunteers and advocates.
Our Vision:
The Arboretum is a highly-treasured, widely-used community asset and a horticultural, environmental, recreational and cultural resource for the region.
Our Plan for achieving our mission and vision for the future:
1. Increase financial resources and protect investments
2. Strengthen human and physical resources
3. Be an effective advocate for the Arboretum
4. Foster greater awareness, appreciation and use of the Arboretum
5. Strengthen and create partnerships
