Opening Night Party
February, 2015, Date/time TBA
Washington State Convention Center, Seattle
The Northwest Flower & Garden Show returns in mid-February, 2015, and once again the Arboretum Foundation will kick off the show with its annual Opening Night Party & Auction. Guests will enjoy a fabulous evening of delicious food, wine bars, live music, and sparkling auctions, and the opportunity to view the beautiful display gardens at the Garden Show the day before it opens to the public—all while helping us raise important funds to support Washington Park Arboretum.
The 2014 Party: Art in Bloom
The 2014 Opening Night Party, on February 4, was a sold-out event and one of our most successful fundraiser’s ever! The theme of the Garden Show and the party was “Art in Bloom,” and guests immersed themselves in 23 unique displays that explored the use of sculpture and other artworks—as well as varying aesthetic approaches—in the garden. They included the Arboretum’s display, the Garden of Artful Delights, which paid homage to the work and home garden of renowned Seattle glass artist, Ginny Ruffner.
PARTY PHOTOS: Our event photographer (Event Photos NW) has posted three large folders of photos from the 2014 party on their website. Simple visit our page on their site, and click on any of the three folder links (entitled “Greenscreen Garden,” “Candids and Gardens, Volume 1,” and “Candids and Gardens, Volume 2”).
A Resplendent Auction
Each year, our party features a lavish silent and live auction filled with all manner of treasures—such as travel packages, dining and theater experiences, exclusive garden tours, hiking adventures, and wine tastings. Our auction procurement team works hard throughout the year to secure many fabulous donations from generous businesses, institutions, and private individuals.
For more information about the auction and how to donate to it, email our Development and Events Coordinator Sheila Beer or call her at 206-325-4510.
Volunteering at Opening Night
Seattle’s most elegant garden party could never be a success without the help of our valued and hard-working volunteers! If you’re interested in helping out at the 2014 event, please email our Volunteer Resources Manager Megan Meyer or call her at 206-325-4510.
