Partnering With Russian Cities to Advance Environmental Education and Botanical Knowledge
Graham Visitors Center, Washington Park Arboretum
Thursday, September 7, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
A remarkable initiative began in 2009. It started with the simple idea that the Russian Far East and the Pacific Northwest have much in common, and that botanic gardens in the two regions had much to teach each other.
From that simple but very original idea has developed a thriving foreign exchange program between environmental educators in Seattle, Vladivostok, Sakhalin, and Irkutsk.
The Arboretum Foundation invites its members, volunteers, donors, and friends to a fascinating, free talk on September 7, led by project initiator and Seattle native, Tony Allison.
Along with five of his colleagues from the Russian Far East, Tony will explore three Russian botanic gardens, their surrounding native floras, and their growing environmental education programs.
Please join us for this rare opportunity to see inside this unique, people-to-people exchange and discover the gardens and flora of the Russian Far East.
Light refreshments will be served.
Seating is limited, so RSVP soon!
RSVP: Please email our events coordinator Dana Pietromonaco at email@example.com.
